A new report shows the Private Option is having a positive impact in Arkansas. The report, which was released by the White House, shows that Arkansas, and other states that extended coverage to low-income citizens, has created jobs and increased the number of people getting preventive care, among other benefits.
Some highlights:
- Almost 190,000 people now have affordable health coverage thanks to the Private Option.
- 6,400 Arkansans will avoid catastrophic medical costs this year.
- 20,300 Arkansans will not have to borrow money or skip bill payments due to medical expenses.
- The Private Option increase employment in AR by 11,500 jobs by 2016 – 2,600 of those in 2014.
- Economic activity (GDP) in Arkansas is expected to grow by more than $2 billion by 2016.
