Learning begins way before kindergarten. The experts agree that high-quality pre-k gives kids a strong start toward success in school. But the Arkansas Better Chance pre-K program hasn’t seen a dime of new funding since 2008, which means that pre-K centers are facing tough choices about whether they serve fewer kids, reduce quality, lose good teachers, or even shut their doors. A cost of living increase of $16 million could turn things around for our state’s littlest learners.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, let’s ask our lawmakers to “show pre-K some love”…by funding it now!
There are TWO easy ways to do that:
- Cut and paste the following message, including the “Show #PreK Some Love” heart image, into your own social media, like Twitter and Facebook: Show #preK some love #arleg, let’s fund it now! @asahutchinson
- Take your own photo with the one(s) you love (your kids, your pets, your students…) and attach it to the above message. Or create a message of your own! (Just be sure to include the hashtag #arlegand @AsaHutchinson in your message, so that the Governor and legislators will see your support for pre-K.)
Starting right now, let’s spread some #preK love and let our lawmakers know that funding high-quality Pre-K should be a priority this session.
