Child Nutrition Bill clears Senate

Yesterday the Senate passed child nutrition authorization, sending the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (S. 3307) to the House for their approval. Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families thanks Sen. Lincoln for her efforts to lead this bill through the Senate. She made a commitment to seeing this bill get passed and fought hard to make it happen.

The U.S. House of Representatives must now pass this bill before it can moved to the President’s desk. The fight continues, and we will be asking you once again to help us encourage our Congressional delegation to pass this much-needed legislation.

We hope that Congressional leaders work to restore SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) funds used to offset the cost of this bill. We look forward to working with them to find ways to ensure the long-term stability of this vital program. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and the SNAP program are both critical elements to feeding Arkansas’s hungry children and families.

Thank you, Sen. Lincoln, for your hard work on behalf of Arkansas.
